For our upcoming preliminary task, we must create and edit a short film segment in and around school. We are considering filming in the sixth form area, as there a lots of professional settings could use, such as the staff offices. I think that these are very good and suitable settings as our movie segment is set in the school, and the staff area was always a scary thought as a child.

Match on Action

Match on action is a technique that is used in many sorts of Tv and media productions. It consists of connecting two shots together in which a character finishes an action that was started in the first one. For example a clip of a character walking through a door from one angle, followed by a shot from another from another angle.

180 Degree Rule

The 180 degree rule is a rule that means a camera can only stay one side of a certain line where the characters are being filmed. There are three positions that the camera can be in, and this is so that the viewer is not confused or disorientated by the cameraman. This is very important otherwise it will reduce the quality of the program.

Shot/Reverse shot

A shot reverse shot is used in the media usually to show a conversation between two characters, enabling the viewer to see the conversation from both of the characters perspective, enhancing the viewers experience whilst watching the program.

Camera shots

My task was to create pictures from certain camera angles that are commonly used in the media. This is my presentation, which contains pictures of my group performing a storyline which is a bully beating up his chosen victim.

My First Media Blog

Hello, I am Jonjo Murtagh and this is the first post on my blog. This is about something I have recently done which in this case was return to school to complete my first week of sixth form. I was a mixture of both nervousness and excitement when it came to the first day, and was looking forward to what the week may bring. All my worries we're put aside very early into the week.
I chose Media studies as I am interested in the media and things such as TV, the music industry and Movies. This was the best subject to suit my interests, and Media, from what ive heard, is a very interesting subject. Media has always been something I wanted to do and hopefully I will enjoy my time in this class!
